As a parent, I know first hand that raising children can be difficult. There are plenty of trials and tribulations that you need to overcome. But there are things that we can use to make life easier. I am of course talking about home technology. There are a few gadgets and gizmos that as a parent, I couldn’t live without. If you want my advice, you’ll incorporate them into your home life as well.
Have you got a tablet for your little one yet? I’m not talking about the expensive ones Apple release each year. You can get tablets that are specifically designed with children in mind. On these, you can add different apps that will make learning at home a lot of fun. Or, they’ll just give you a few minutes peace while they entertain themselves. I saw a quip on a DVD last Christmas about how tables are lifesavers for parents. It’s surprisingly true. If you don’t have a kid-friendly tablet, but you do have one yourself, you can still let your kids use it. You just have to remember to put the safety locks on and remember to switch off in app purchases. Then, it’s ready to use.
I love having a camera around the home because then I can record every moment of my child’s life, growing up. One day I’ll have a huge collection of different photos that I can show them when they’re older. It will be fantastic. If you’re interested in getting a camera for your family home, check out some of the online digital camera stores. There, you’ll be able to find the perfect camera for you. If you want to keep the camera safe I suggest getting one that offers easy transferal of pictures to a hard drive. But, I’d also recommend keeping hard copies just in case there are any technical errors. You can then have a whole heap of fun with the pictures you take like creating collages.
I’m loving the baby monitors that you can now get that connect with all the tech in your home. For instance, you can buy a baby monitor that works with your phone or tablet. That way, you can keep an eye on your kids while you’re downstairs watching television. Or, at night when they’re tucked safely in bed. When my little one was younger a baby monitor was essential for keeping a check through the night. But even now he’s a little older it’s still useful if you want to know when your child has a bad dream.
I haven’t actually bought this piece of tech yet, but I’m sure it will be useful when my child is a little older. He’ll be going to proper school and with a smart lock I’ll know exactly when he comes home. This might seem a bit paranoid. But think about how much better you’ll feel when you’re out and your phone alerts you to let you know your kid arrived home safe.
No doubt about it then. Technology is a mom’s new best friend.
