Now that Thanksgiving Bash is over, My posts this month are going to start being about marriage, and my husband. It is almost my anniversary, November 23rd I will have been married for one year. So this month is going to be mostly relationship and my story based. I promise it is a great story and I will also be sharing all the details from my wedding because who doesn’t love to relive those?
So to start it off I am going to start at the beginning of us.
I first met my husband in 7th grade. We had the same home room, wood shop. Through out the next two years we would see each other every morning and the more time that went by, the more I hated him. He was the typical junior high jerk trying to fit in and be one of the cool guys. The main memory I have of him was one day when this goofy and awkward girl named Elizabeth came into class with this blue eyeshadow on. She was trying to fit in to the trend but unfortunately it just wasn’t working for her. So he looks at her and says “what did you put your make up on in the dark or something?” Totally embarrassed the girl left the class in tears. I felt horrible for her.
But that was common for boys that age.
High school rolled around and he went off to a all boys private school and I went to the local high school in our city. I went through the next few years dating guys, playing water polo, and making friends. I was a peer councilor and ran our schools tobacco awareness program.
Sophomore year a old friend from my AYSO soccer days joined peer. Ashlee and I quickly became close friends. We spend all our time together at her house and I soon fell into the habit of drinking all weekend and smoking. Ashlee’s mom began dating a man who had a daughter named Britney. Britney and her dad soon moved into Ashlee’s house and Britney began going to school with us during my junior year.
Ashlee and Britney and I were together all day most days. We all had first period together and I would often drive then to and from school and stay at their house till I had to be home. On weekends I pretty much lived there. Ashlee was dating a guy named Jon who just so happened to be friends with Britney’s boyfriend Bryan. Turns out they had a friend named Dale.
Well one weekend when we were all hanging out together Dale rolls up to the house and would you believe he is that same jerk from junior high? That night Ashlee and Jon decided they wanted some alone time so Britney Bryan Dale and I all went down to Bryan’s house. I drove down with Dale in his lifted f350 and we followed Bryan’s truck with him and Britney down to where he lived. During the truck ride we talked a lot and I was surprised to be getting along with him so well. We hung out on Bryan’s couch and watched a movie just the two of us and I honestly couldn’t tell you what it was. We finally went back to Ashlee’s house at 3am after spending most of the night just the two of us.
The next weekend the 6 of us went on a group date and I remember being so nervous. We went to a burger place in the mall. I didn’t order anything and I came back from the bathroom to a strawberry shake waiting for me. This guy was smooth. I was shocked to actually like this guy that I had assumed would always be a jerk. For a few weeks we talked nightly and saw each other almost daily. Then on November 28th after I finished water polo practice I walked out to my car in the dark parking lot soaking wet and exhausted to find him standing there with red roses asking me to be his girlfriend.
Unfortunately that happiness did not last. Tune in tomorrow for part 2.
