Keeping your kids occupied can be hard work. Constantly thinking of new activities and things to do with them can be very difficult. Rather than keeping them cooped up all day, why not take them for a day out? There are many family friendly places you can go that both adults and kids will enjoy. Finding it hard thinking of the perfect day trip location? Here are some of my favorites.
Beach days are great fun for everyone. The kids can splash around in the sea or build sandcastles while you and your partner sunbathe on the sand. Everyone’s a winner! If you live in a landlocked area, you might not be able to head to the beach, but you can go to your nearest river. Almost every city is built upon a river, so even if you live in a large metropolis, you’ll be close to the water. Many cities have parks around their river or walking trails that run along the banks. It’s a great location for a day out in the fresh air!
This is an extremely good option, especially if your kids have to do a history project at school. We may think of museums as being boring and stuffy places, but many now offer interactive displays and fun exhibitions aimed at kids. Some even use live actors to help bring characters from the past to life! During the school holidays, many museums hold events for children. So when your kids start to complain about being bored at home, check to see what’s going on at your local museum!
We all know how fabulous parks are – after all, many families have been going for generations! They are great for all ages. You can take your baby for a walk out in the stroller, or take young children to feed ducks in the pond. If you’re lucky, you may live near a park that has swings and slides in an outdoor adventure area. If it is the school holidays, check Google to see if you have any holiday play parks in your area. These hold exciting activities and events for children when school is out.
Zoos and Aquariums
There’s no wonder families love going to the zoo. Kids will enjoy coming face to face with cute critters and learning about exotic species. Mom and Dad will love the fact it’s an active day outside. Most will also include a petting zoo. This gives kids the chance stroke many household pets and farm animals. Feeding times are especially fun, and kids may be given the chance to help out and feed certain animals. Aquariums are also fantastic day trip destinations. Don’t forget to stop for a break in the zoo cafe or restaurant and have a look in the gift shop to buy a souvenir of your exciting day out!
Hopefully, this list has given you plenty of enticing ideas for family days out. Let me know where you end up in the comments!
