The easiest ways to train your puppy

The easiest way to train your puppy

Our Puppy Lucy has been creating some problems around the house. She is almost 2 and it is time for her to no longer ba llowed the puppy excuse. So I reached out and got some great advice from a company on the best ways to train her. Here is what they said:

Communication methods with puppies/dogs

Many new dog owners have a hard time teaching their furry friends how to behave properly. This is often because they simply don’t know how to talk with the animals properly. That’s why it’s so important to take the time to learn how to communicate effectively, before you ever start dog training. Investing the time toward the task will help you be more successful through all your training efforts overall.

Single Commands

Dogs are capable of understanding a large number of words or commands, but it’s best to teach them one word commands whenever possible. Whether you want your pet to sit down, roll over, pick up a specific toy, or do something else, it’s entirely possible to tie that action to a command over time. Pick out a specific command for each of the actions that you want to teach your canine and make sure that you repeat them often while going through your regular dog training routine.

Clicker

Clicker training is a highly effective technique that helps you teach your puppy new behaviors quickly and easily. The clicker simply signifies a positive thing whenever you want it to. That means while teaching your dog what to do, you can simply click each time he does the desired action, and he’ll very quickly learn what to do and what not to do.

Treats

Believe it or not, good quality treats are a form of communication. When you feed them to your dog you are telling him that he did something right. That’s like telling a person good job. So when your dog does something right, the best way to reaffirm that is to feed him a treat afterward. Most dog owners carry a large supply of treats around, to make sure they can always properly reward their pup when they complete a desirable action.

If you aren’t sure how to properly communicate with your dog or your puppy, you should consider working with a puppy trainer to help you figure out how to. You can easily learn how to talk with your dog in a language that he will understand and each of the suggestions listed up above is how you should start out.
